Sisi inaugurates first session of national dialogue for youth

Egypt president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Saturday inaugurated the first session of the monthly "national dialogue for youth" conferences, which were launched following the first National Youth Conference, held in October in Sharm el-Shaikh.

Around 1,000 youth are participating in the dialogue. Sisi appeared today sitting beside Mona al-Sayed, know in the local media as the 'Woman with the Cart'.

Sisi met the woman last month after a photo of her pulling a heavy cart, loaded with merchandise in Alexandria, went viral on social media, prompting sympathy with her.

During that meeting Sisi extended the invitation to Sayed to attend the dialogue. She is also expected to deliver a speech.

The dialogue, which is being held at a Cairo hotel, follows on the recommendations of the National Youth Conference held in October.

Sources familiar with the dialogue said that it will concentrate on issues of education, illiteracy and unemployment. University students and youth from political parties are among attendees.

During the first National Youth Conference, President Sisi said that these dialogue sessions would be held on a monthly basis until the second National Youth Conference in November 2017, which will also be discussed.
