Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received on Sunday the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at Sharm el-Sheikh, the Egyptian Presidency’s Spokesperson Bassam Rady said, adding that the two presidents discussed the latest developments of the Palestinian cause.
Sisi stressed that Egypt’s position towards the Palestinian cause is fixed, as Egypt supports the two-state solution and the establishment of the Palestinian state on the 1967 border with a capital in Eastern Jerusalem, according to Rady.
Egypt will continue coordinating with the Palestinians to set a strategic vision and find ways to face challenges and achieve peace.
Sisi referred to the necessity of unifying efforts to reach long-term and reasonable solutions, Radi said.
Abbas hailed Egypt’s efforts in supporting Palestine, and praised Egypt’s role in seeking a just and comprehensive solution for the Palestinian cause.
Rady said that the two presidents agreed to continue consultation and coordination towards different issues, alongside working to unify the Palestinians together and achieve their desires.
Sisi and Abbas previously met on April in Cairo, where Sisi asserted that the government would maintain communication with donors to find a mechanism to solve the financing crisis faced by the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
