Sisi, Putin contain consultations on regional issues: spokesperson

The residency’s Spokesperson Bassam Radi stated that Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met the Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. Upon their meeting, they stressed the importance of continued consultation on various regional and international issues.

During the meeting on the sideline of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China, Putin expressed appreciation for the role of Egypt in maintaining security and stability in the Middle East and Africa.

Radi said that Putin offered congratulations to Sisi after Egyptian electors voted for the constitutional amendments.

He noted that the amendments will help development and construction to continue in an atmosphere of stability and security.

Sisi met Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev in January in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, head of the General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel, and the Russian ambassador in Cairo.

He praised Russia’s efforts to contribute to Egypt’s comprehensive development, especially through the collaborative establishment of the historically significant nuclear power plant in the Dabaa region, which represents a milestone for friendly relations between the two countries. The friendly relations between the two countries for this project are reminiscent of the construction of the High Dam.

He also praised the Russian industrial zone, intended to be established in East Port Said. The industrial zone will help maximize Russia’s direct investments in the field of joint industrialization.
