Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed on Tuesday Egypt’s steadfast stance in support of Somalia’s unity and stability.
Sisi expressed Egypt’s desire to continue to enhance various aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and to offer all support to the people of Somalia in their efforts to build the institutions of the state and establish security and stability.
These statements came on Tuesday during a meeting between President Sisi and his Somali counterpart President Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed ‘Farmajo’ in the presence of Egyptian Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry and head of the General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel.
The Egyptian presidential spokesman Bassam Rady, said that the Somali president expressed his appreciation for the historic relations between Egypt and his country, praising Egypt’s role in supporting Somalia and its support of efforts to achieve security and stability in the country.
The Somali president stressed his country’s keenness to continue coordinating and consulting with Egypt on various issues, praising Egypt’s hosting of the summit meetings on Sudan and Libya and Egypt’s active role in the African arena, especially in light of its current chairmanship of the African Union.
The Somali president also reviewed the latest developments in the internal situation in his country and the steps being taken by the central government to restore and consolidate security and stability in Somalia and overcome various challenges.
