Six defendants, including five Sudanese, were referred to military trial in Hurgada on charges of sneaking inside the Egyptian border, illegally exploring for gold and entering a prohibited area.
The military prosecutor set 25 December for the trial and ordered the detention of the defendants until then.
The border guards in the area of Abu Ramad, south of the Red Sea Governorate, arrested the six people while they were exploring for gold without unauthorization to enter the country.
