State-run satellite channel broadcasts disrupted Sunday evening

All television broadcasts on Nilesat, Egypt’s state-owned satellite broadcasting company, went black on Sunday evening due to a service interruption.

Ali Abdel Rahman, head of the specialized Nile TV channels, told the website of state-run daily Al-Ahram in a telephone interview that the cause of the technical failure is unknown.

Nilesat Managing Director Salah Hamza said the disruption came from outside Egypt.

“Al-Oula and Al-Fadaeya channels were moved to frequency 11219, and the Nile channels will also be broadcast on other frequencies,” he said.
