Egypt’s High State Security Prosecution decided on Tuesday to extend the imprisonment of ex-ambassador Massoum Marzouk, “March 9” university independence advocate Yehia al-Kazaz, Popular Current Party member Raed Salama, and activists Nermen Hussein, Abdel-Fattah Saeed, Sameh Soudi and Amr Mohammed for 15 days each, pending investigation.
The seven defendants were charged with joining a terrorist group, receiving funds for terrorist purposes, and agreeing to commit an act of terror.
The prosecution also renewed a months-long imprisonment of the blogger Wael Abbas, journalist Adel Sabri, and the two political activists Hazem Abdel Azem and Shadi al-Ghazali, over charges of publishing false news and inciting demonstration.
