Stocks falls by 1.3%

The Egyptian stock exchange fell by 1.3 percent Monday, with the EGX 30 index shedding 84 points to close at 6411.

Over the course of the trading session, 147 stocks lost value while 33 gained. Among the earners yesterday were Telecom Egypt, Commercial International Bank (CIB), and Alkan.

Orascom Telecom, Orascom Construction, and Hermes, all lost between one and five percent of their value.

Buying by foreign investors failed to offset sales by Arab and Egyptian investors in a day that saw a total of LE1.5 billion worth of transactions.
