Egypt's Suez Canal revenues reached US$1.659 billion (LE12.6 billion) during the first four months of 2015, according to Egypt State Information Service (SIS).
The Suez Canal Authority confirmed that 5,510 ships transited the Suez Canal, during the first four months, carrying a total cargo of about 319.670 million tons.
Egypt's Suez Canal revenues inched down by 0.5 percent to US$442.2 million in April of 2015 as compared to the same month a year earlier when the canal collected $402.4 million in revenues,
The Suez Canal is one of Egypt's main sources of foreign currency.
