The pilot of a private Swedish jet was allowed to leave Cairo International Airport on Thursday after Egyptian authorities interrogated him for possessing high-quality cameras, according to a security source.

The de Havilland plane was grounded on Wednesday evening while the pilot was being questioned.

The Swedish pilot, Stig Magnus, 39, had asked to make an emergency landing in Cairo due to navigational problems, according to a security source.

The source added that after the plane landed authorities discovered high-resolution cameras on the right wing and tail of the plane. The plane was then grounded pending an investigation.

After the pilot was questioned and the camera footage was inspected, he was allowed to leave.

The cameras contained footage documenting the pilot's journey from Greece to Sudan, according to a security source.

The pilot explained he is an amateur traveler and was using the camera to collect aerial footage of his journey.
