The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has revealed that temperatures will drop across the country for the next 72 hours as the fall season comes to an end and winter begins on Friday, December 22.
Temperatures will drop gradually in the coming hours throughout the country, especially during the evening, recording less than 10C in Siwa, Catherine, Nakhl, and Rafah.
Chances of rainfall are expected in the Suez Canal cities, coastal governorates, and northern Lower Egypt governorates, and extending to light rains on Greater Cairo.
Weather maps also warned of cold weather at night, especially amid active winds in most areas.
The EMA urged citizens to take the necessary preparations for the expected changes in the weather.
Monday’s weather
Pleasant weather will prevail during the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, and northern Upper Egypt, moderate in South Sinai, hot in southern Upper Egypt, and cold at night in most parts.
The EMA warned of cold weather during the night and early morning hours.
Rainfall areas
Light rains with an incidence of approximately 30 percent are expected on across the northern coast, northern Lower Egypt, and the Suez Canal cities, the EMA said, which may extend to areas of Greater Cairo at intermittent intervals.
The EMA urged drivers to exercise caution and not drive during the rain unless absolutely necessary, adhere to safe speeds, use their wipers and maintain a safe distance between other cars.
Satellites monitored wind activity in areas of Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the western coasts, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
