Temperatures continue to drop in Egypt, growing very cold at night

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts a continued drop in temperatures across most of the country, with very cold conditions prevailing at night and in the early morning, and cold temperatures during the day.

There is a chance of moderate rainfall with possible thunder in parts of Alexandria, northern Lower Egypt, and the northeastern coast.

Light to moderate rain is expected in some areas of Matrouh Governorate, southern Lower Egypt, and the Suez Canal cities, with a slight 20 percent chance of light rain in parts of Greater Cairo.

Wind activity will continue across the country, but its speed will decrease compared to Monday, ranging between 35 and 50 km/h – it may stir up sand and dust in some areas.

Weather maps warn of severe disruption to maritime navigation along all Mediterranean coasts, with wave heights ranging from 3.5 to 5.5 meters.

Mist is expected on roads leading to and from northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, and central Sinai. This fog may be dense at times on some roads.

Expected temperatures on Tuesday:

  • Cairo and Alexandria: 18C
  • Matrouh: 17C
  • Hurghada, Luxor and Aswan: 20C
  • Sharm El-Sheikh: 21C
