Tennis star Hana Gouda makes history by becoming first Arab & African to win World Bronze Medal

Egyptian table tennis player Hana Goda, made an unprecedented historical achievement on Friday by winning the bronze medal of the Under-19 Girls’ Singles at the ITTF World Youth Championships, held in Sweden.

The 16-year-old Goda qualified for the semi-finals of the championship, and lost the semi-final match against German Annett Kaufmann, with a score of four sets to one, to settle for the bronze medal in the World Championship.

With this historic achievement, Goda becomes the first Egyptian, Arab and African player to win the bronze medal at Under-19 Girls’ Singles at the ITTF World Youth Championships.

Previously, the young prodigy had participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, but bid farewell to the competition in the round of 64 after losing to the Dutch star Britt Eerland.

Goda also won the gold medal at the African Games held in Ghana in March, and won the African Singles Championship title held in Tunisia in September 2023.
