The displacement of Palestinians is an injustice that we cannot participate in: Sisi

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated his nation’s strong rejection of the displacement of Gaza residents: “I say it with the utmost candor, the transfer and displacement of the Palestinian people is an injustice we cannot participate in.”

He stressed Egypt’s strong position on supporting the Palestinian cause, which can never be compromised in any way.

During a joint press conference with his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto, Sisi added: “If I asked the Egyptian people to do this, they would all take to the streets and say no, do not participate in injustice.”

He pointed out that the only solution is the establishment of a Palestinian state with historical rights on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

There are historical rights that cannot be ignored, he explained, and Egyptian, Arab, and international public opinion sees that there is a historical injustice that has befallen the Palestinian people for 70 years – one that Egypt will not participate in it.

He referred to the historic consistency of Egypt’s position on the Palestinian issue, stating, “There can never be neutrality or concession in any form regarding these constants, and when I refer to the constants, I mean the fundamental principles upon which the Egyptian position is based, which certainly include the establishment of the Palestinian state and the preservation of the components of that state, particularly its people and territory.”

The president continued, “Regarding the issue of the displacement of Palestinians, I assure the Egyptian people that there can never be any leniency or allowance for compromising Egyptian national security. I assure you that we are determined to work with President Trump, who wishes to achieve peace by reaching the desired peace based on the two-state solution.”

“We believe that President Trump is capable of achieving that long-awaited goal of establishing lasting and just peace in the Middle East,” he stated.

“What is happening in Gaza since October 7, 2023, until now, is the result of a long-standing failure to resolve the Palestinian issue, and the roots of the problem have not been seriously addressed. The situations we are witnessing are the outcomes of years of neglecting fundamental solutions, as the situation erupts every few years, as we have seen recently in the Gaza Strip.”

He added, “It has been emphasized that the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, reached after arduous Egyptian efforts in partnership with our partners in Qatar and the United States, is imperative. It is also essential to allow the complete flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to end the catastrophic humanitarian situation and to begin a genuine political process to find a sustainable settlement for the Palestinian issue.”
