More than 200 employees of the Magic Land theme park–recently sold to an Indian investor by the public-sector Media City Company–have gone on strike.
The workers accuse the new owner of failing to pay them their rightful salaries and bonuses.
One striking employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the park management also canceled their two-day weekend and forced them to work a six-day work week.
Magic Land Managing Director Sayed Helmy, for his part, insists the workers have no right to call a strike. "We’ve been regularly paying them their salaries and bonuses," Helmy claimed.
