Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel al-Wazir, announced operating the third Talgo train on the Cairo-Alexandria line, starting on Thursday.
This comes after the trial operation of the train on the Cairo-Alexandria line which started at the end of December, ended.
The second train operated on the Cairo/ Luxor line last month, and the fourth train will be active immediately after the end of its trial operation, on the Upper Egypt line.
The third train was in operation on the Cairo/Alexandria line on a daily basis, so that train No. 2025 departs from Cairo at 8 am and arrives in Alexandria at 10:30 am, and train No. 2024 returns from Alexandria at 2 pm and arrives in Cairo at 4:30 pm.
The timings of the 905/916 VIP trains on Cairo / Alexandria line in both directions will be modified,
Starting Thursday March 16, 2023, so that train 905 departs from Cairo at 9 am and arrives in Alexandria at 11:30 am, and train 916 departs from Alexandria at 3 pm and arrives in Cairo at 5:30 pm.
Likewise, starting Thursday, the schedule of the 2008 VIP Alexandria/Cairo train will be modified, and the schedule of the 928 air-conditioned.
Alexandria/Cairo train will be modified due to the operation of a faster and higher-class alternative service.
The operation of this type of luxury locomotive constitutes a huge qualitative leap in the history of Egyptian railways.
Talgo trains are characterized by advanced modern technologies, and its design gives the trains stability while traveling in curves, achieving maximum comfort for passengers, the statement, said.
The train vehicles are made of aluminum currently used in most trains in Europe and the world, which reduces the weight of the train and thus saves fuel consumed, and resists rust, it added.
Each Talgo train consists of 15 carriages including five first class carriages, eight second class carriages, a buffet carriage and the power wagon.
Talgo trains are characterized by a high operating speed of up to 160 km / h and the presence of air systems to absorb vibrations which achieves complete comfort for passengers at high speeds.
They contain seats for people of determination, display screens for each seat in first-class carriages and central screens in second-class carriages, as well as a WI-FI system and a fire alarm system to maintain the safety of passengers: toilets including toilets designed for people of determination, surveillance cameras and a control room to secure passengers.
