The Director General of the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria Walaa Mostafa announced that since its opening the museum has received nearly 100 foreign tourist groups over the course of five days, particularly Greeks, Italians, Americans, and some Asian countries alongside 5,000 individual Egyptian visitors and 1,000 foreign visitors.
She added that there is a great demand by tourists and locals to visit the museum and tour its unique collections and displays, and to enjoy the guided tours provided by the museum curators during their visit to the open archaeological site.
Mostafa said that 40 museum curators are present on the first floor waiting for foreign, Egyptian and Arab tourists, and will accompany them on guided and promotional tours to learn about the museum’s holdings throughout two shifts period.
The restoration and development project for the Greco-Roman Museum, the largest museum in Alexandria, was completed and officially opened on Wednesday, with the management and security coordinating to receive foreign, Egyptian and Arab tourists after 17 years.
The Alexandria Corniche on Monday also witnessed a bicycle marathon with the participation of 50 foreign tourists, most of them from European countries, to promote Egyptian tourism and showcase Alexandria’s safety.
Dozens of people lined up along on the Alexandria Corniche, especially in the area between Qaitbay Citadel and the Raml Station.
