Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou expressed great hope that the tourism sector would recover in few months and overcome losses that he described as “catastrophic.”
Zaazou told the Financial Times in a statement published on the newspaper’s website Tuesday that tourism has suffered greatly since the January 2011 revolution.
Zaazou argued there is no place on Earth that is 100 percent safe, pointing out that the US has also witnessed a terrorist attack, which was during the Boston Marathon.
Seventy percent of tourists in Egypt in recent years have been heading to the Red Sea and South Sinai, Zaazou said, adding those areas completely safe.
