Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou and Sports Minister Taher Abu Zeid on Sunday signed a protocol to promote sports tourism in Egypt.
The protocol was also signed by the Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers of Commerce.
On the sidelines of a conference on the future of tourism in Egypt that is held in Luxor on Saturday, Zaazou said Egypt should diversify tourism services so as to attract different types of tourists, hence the protocol that aims to prepare attractive sports activities and projects.
“We want to put Egypt on the map of international sports tourism,” he said, adding that the private sector would play an important role in the protocol.
For his part, Abu Zeid said a group of experts, academics and investors are contributing to the protocol. “It is a national project that supports the Egyptian economy,” he said.
He added that Egypt can offer attractive sporting activities, such as sand skating and desert rallies.
