Trade revenues from the border crossing between Egypt and Sudan reached LE500 million in 2015, Egypt’s General Authority for Land and Dry Ports has announced.
The trade route between Egypt’s Qastal and Sudan’s Ashkit areas resulted in record revenues given the fact that it was only inaugurated officially in May, according to authority chief Gamal Hegazy.
Nearly 160,000 people passed through the border over the past year, Hegazy said.
The trade volume between Egypt and Sudan stood at nearly US$1 billion by late 2015.
