Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanor Court adjourned on Wednesday the trial of three people accused of destroying the Tahrir Square memorial during the second commemoration of Mohamed Mahmoud events last November to 22 January.
The defendants, who attended the court session amidst tight security, denied being in Tahrir Square at the time of the events. They are charged with crowding, using force, possessing a bladed weapon, committing acts of violence, smashing the memorial and burning the Egyptian flag.
The defense argued the lack of justifications for the imprisonment pending the case, and requested the release of the defendants on bias. It also said the charges were made against a crowd, and not against every defendant in particular.
Dozens protested in front of Abdeen Court chanting slogans against the army and demanding the release of the defendants.
