US President Donald Trump suggested on Wednesday that Iran was “provoked” into attacking Kuwait after the US struck Iranian territory.
Asked by a reporter if the ceasefire with Iran is still active following the attacks on Kuwait, Trump said: “There’s a reason for everything, and we hit them pretty hard the night before and actually last night. And when it was explained to me, I said, alright, so well, (inaudible), but we have been hitting them pretty hard, a little bit. So there a reason for certain things.”
The US and Iran this week traded strikes in one of the biggest nights of attacks since the ceasefire began in April. Iran fired missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain in the early hours of Wednesday, after the US launched strikes on Iranian territory. Tehran accuses its Gulf neighbors of allowing the US to use their land to execute attacks.
