Two Egyptian restaurants have been selected among the list of the 18 best restaurants in the world for 2023, according to TripAdvisor.
New Cairo’s Kazoku Japanese cuisine restaurant and The Sachi Heliopolis restaurant won an award in the fine dining category, which is one of seven sub-awards ranging from classic favorites, such as fine dining and everyday cuisine, to those suitable for special occasions, such as Date Night and Hidden Gem Restaurants.
The awards also include two brand new menus for 2023, honoring the best restaurants for families and vegetarians.
These top restaurants were chosen based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews written on Tripadvisor website from June 1, 2022 until May 31, 2023.
The top 18
This year’s winners are spread across six continents, 58 countries and 478 different destinations, forming a list that suits a variety of tastes.
New Cairo’s Kazoku at 14th place beat out the likes of Tin Lung Heen in Hong Kong, China at 15th, Summer Pavilion in Singapore at 16th, La Colombe in Constantia, South Africa at 17th, and the Mandarin Grill + Bar at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong at 18th.
Coming in ahead is The Kitchin in Edinburgh, United Kingdom at 13th place, beat out in turn by Oro Restaurante Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 12th and The Grove in Auckland Central in New Zealand at 11th.
The Sachi Heliopolis Restaurant in Cairo came in tenth, while ninth place went to PIC Valencia Restaurant in France.
In eighth place came the Paul Ainsworth Restaurant, Padstow, United Kingdom, while the Akira Back Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand came in seventh, and the Avartana Restaurant – Chennai (Madras), India came sixth.
Fifth place went to Ristorante Villa Crespi Orta in San Giulio, Italy, while Medard Restaurant – Boulerette in France came in fourth place, the Old Stamp House Ambleside, United Kingdom came third and Issei Suyoshi – Nishiyazabu, Japan came second.
And first place went to the Bougainville Restaurant in Amsterdam.
