Two people were killed and two others were injured on Friday when a two-storey house made of mud-bricks collapsed in the village of Qamula, west of Luxor.
Luxor governor Mohamed Badr headed to the scene of the incident and followed up the transfer of the injured to Armant Central Hospital. The injured suffered from fractures in different parts of their bodies.
Two dead bodies were transferred to the morgue.
Badr instructed Social Solidarity Department officials to urgently pay compensation to the injured and the parents of the dead.
He also instructed a quick inspection of the collapsed house, as well as neighboring houses to prevent further collapses.
LE5,000 will be provided as a compensation to the family of each deceased, and a LE200 daily assistance will be given to the injured, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Luxor Ahmed Obaid said.
