UK sees progress in securing more Libya strike planes

Britain is talking to other countries about providing more strike aircraft for NATO operations in Libya and some progress has been made in securing them, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Friday.

"We are talking to other countries about providing more strike assets," Hague told reporters after talks with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"Certainly we are making a bit of progress on that and so I'm hopeful there will be more strike assets made available to NATO," he said.

He said he could not go into detail about who might provide extra ground strike aircraft, saying it was up to any individual country to make its own announcements.

Hague said the United States and Britain saw eye-to-eye on what extra military assets were required for the Libya mission.
