UN Women in Egypt honors former Minister Nevine al-Kabbaj

UN Women in Egypt honored on Friday former Minister of Social Solidarity, Nevine al-Kabbaj, in recognition of her tenure.

This took place during the event “Beijing Agenda +30: Honoring Inspiring Egyptian Women Leaders,” which coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.

Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsy, accepted the award on Kabbaj’s behalf.

The celebration also honored other distinguished Egyptian women, including:

  • Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania al-Mashat;
  • Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, Manal Awad;
  • Advisor to the Egyptian President for Economic Affairs, Hala al-Saeed;
  • Former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Ghada Waly;
  • The President of the National Council for Women, Amal Ammar

The event was attended by the Head of the UN Women Office in Egypt, Marwa Alam al-Din, UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt, Elena Panova, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program Chitose Noguchi, and a host of inspiring Egyptian women leaders.
