Update: Port Said, Ismailia governors reduce curfew hours

The curfew in Ismailia will be reduced to three hours and only be enforced from 2 am to 5 am, Major General Gamal Imbaby, Ismailia’s governor, said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Port Said Governor Major General Ahmed Abdallah said the curfew in his city would reduced to four hours and only be enforced from 1 am to 5 am.

The curfew has now been reduced in all three governorates where it had originally been imposed by the president. Major General Samir Aglan, governor of Suez, made a similar announcement.

Imbaby said during a news conference that the decision was made in coordination with security services.

President Mohamed Morsy had announced the imposition of a curfew and state of emergency, but later allowed governorates to decide how to implement the measures themselves.

Imbaby said the new timings would be considered and evaluated in order to be increased or reduced according to the security situation.
