Upper Egypt police tighten security after clash between Christian and Muslim families

Egyptian police were imposing tight security measures on Wednesday in the village of Demnos, Souhag, following a fight between a Muslim family and another Christian family on Tuesday.

Five persons were injured in the clash, with one undergoing spleen surgery and another suffering concussion. The victims were taken to the central hospital in Souhag.

Souhag's prosecution services have launched investigations into the incident. Preliminary findings reveal that those engaged in the fight used sticks and other non-automatic weapons after a disagreement about dumping dust in the street.

Those injured are Ramadan Abdel Atty, 26, Muslim, his brothers Asaad and Ashraf, as well as Adel Gabra, 28, Christian, his brother Nady, and Medhat Ayyad, also a Christian.
