US to etablish investments at $120 million in Egypt

Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment, said that the US economic support fund will implement an initiative to establish a number of investment projects in Egypt worth US$120 million, which were approved by Congress recently.

Abdel Nour said Egypt has tremendous business opportunities waiting for more American investments, especially as it will benefit from the large-scale network of trade agreements signed with a large number of countries and economic blocs.

The minister made his statement during an expanded meeting held by the minister with a delegation of the US State Department, headed by Ambassador David Thorne Advisor to the foreign minister.

US companies operating in Egypt have achieved significant growth and expanded their investments despite the difficult conditions experienced by the country in the past two years, Abdel Nour added.

Ambassador David Thorne adviser to US Secretary of State said there are great efforts on part of the US investors to invest in the Egyptian market.

The United States is ready to support the Egyptian economy through bilateral programs for the development of the private sector in cooperation with international financial organizations in order to create more job opportunities and explore business opportunities in the two countries, Thorne said.
