US military plane crashes in eastern Mediterranean

The US European Command announced on Saturday evening that a military plane on a training mission in the eastern Mediterranean crashed on Friday.

The US Central Command added that nothing indicates the crash was due to any hostile act, and did not reveal if it was a manned plane or a drone.

The Pentagon also confirmed that a US Air Force plane crashed in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea while carrying out a training flight on Friday, with the causes of the accident are being determined.

The military command did not reveal any information about the plane and its crew members, nor did it announce any deaths or injuries.

The spokesperson for the Houthi Ansar Allah group on Wednesday announced the downing of an American plane in Yemeni territorial waters that was conducting espionage operations.

The US has previously sent several warships to the Middle East, including the aircraft carriers Gerald Ford and Dwight Eisenhower, against the backdrop of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
