US Secretary of State to visit Egypt, Israel and West Bank

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, will visit Egypt, Israel and the West Bank, in the first visit since the Benjamin Netanyahu government came to power in Israel, according to a statement issued by the US State Department, Thursday.

The statement added that Blinken will conduct consultations with partners on a number of priority international and regional issues.

These include the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Iran and Israeli-Palestinian relations, discussing a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and protecting human rights and democratic values, according to the US State Department.

This will be Blinken’s first visit to Israel since the far-right took over power in Israel, through Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Blinken will meet with the two presidents: Palestinian Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
