The Egyptian army announced Saturday that it has carried out a new airdrop operation for humanitarian aid in the northern Gaza Strip.
“Airdrops of aid were carried out in various areas in the northern Gaza Strip,” it explained in a statement, without further details regarding their size.
The statement stressed that “Egypt will continue its efforts to ensure the implementation of urgent humanitarian aid to meet the urgent basic needs of the Palestinian people.”
Several Arab nations, including Egypt, UAE, Jordan, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain alongside other foreign countries have begun carrying out operations to airdrop food aid into Gaza Strip.
These airdrops come under an international support framework for efforts to deliver aid to Gaza, whether by air or land – at a time when the United Nations has confirmed that Israeli forces are “systematically” preventing aid from reaching the residents of Gaza.
