Video: Israeli soldiers throw antidepressant medication into Knesset meeting

A video has gone viral on social media showing a tumultuous scene inside the Israeli Knesset plenum, where a Work Group meeting intended to discuss suicide among soldiers and veterans descended into chaos on Monday morning.

Former Israeli soldiers threw bags filled with antidepressant medications onto the table, inflaming the already tense atmosphere.

In the video, one soldier is heard shouting, “We’ve been warning for years that the holidays will be a cause for more suicides,” while others threw boxes and bags of pills into the hall.

One soldier accused the authorities of negligence, saying, “Five years ago, I warned you about these suicides, and you did nothing,” pointing to the significant increase in the number of soldiers committing suicide since the start of the war on Gaza.

The widely circulated video received widespread interaction, with one of the most prominent comments being, “A clip like this of soldiers or some of their people who reject brutality did not receive exposure as other clips. It’s a reality that everyone needs to see.”

Another wrote: “Throwing psychiatric medications into the occupation’s parliament is an image that sums up the extent of the internal collapse… Soldiers who have lost the ability to endure, exhausted by nightmares and fear of their crimes in Gaza. Whoever sows murder reaps nothing but terror and suicide.”
