Video: ‘The Blue Elephant 2’ trailer garners 15 million views

15 million persons viewed the trailer for “The Blue Elephant 2” on YouTube and social media after film director Marwan Hamed posted the trailer on June 10.

Synergy Art Production Company distributed four posters for the film, which stars Karem Abdel Aziz, Nelly Karim, Hend Sabry and Ayad Nassar, ahead of the Eid al-Adha film premiere on August 12.

The plot of the film takes off five years after the events of the first film. Dr. Yehia Rashid, a psychiatrist who specializes in treating dangerous patients, is summoned to the female-only ward no. 8, where he meets a patient who begins to disturb the lives of him and his family. In an attempt to regain control of his life and solve this new mystery, Yehia seeks the help of the Blue Elephant pills.


The film was made by scriptwriter Ahmed Morad, editor Ahmed Hafez, director of photography Ahmed al-Marsi, stylist Nahed Nasrallah and designer Mohamed Attieh.

The Blue Elephant (2014) earned approximately LE35 million in cinemas and sold 1.2 million tickets. The movie obtained 8.2 points on IMDb based on the average ratings of about 21,000 accounts.

The movie’s events were taken from the novel by Ahmed Morad, “The Blue Elephant 2”, which topped booklists in 2012 and joined the shortlist for the Booker Prize.
