We target 25-30% in inbound tourist arrivals per annum:Tourism min

Upon the invitation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt), Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Eissa attended on Monday the chamber’s annual member meeting where he briefed the chamber officials on the ministry’s tourism promotion strategy.

Giving a presentation about the ministry’s strategy, Eissa said the ministry plans to increase annual tourist arrivals by and 25-30 per cent.

This strategy involves ensuring greater and easier accessibility to tourist destinations, increasing passenger seats of flights to Egyptian airports, and boosting passenger capacity, in cooperation with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Eissa added.

It also involves creating an environment conducive to tourism investments, increasing the number of hotel rooms, while working for enhancing the tourist experience by improving the quality of services, the minister pointed out.

Highlighting the importance of measuring work efficiency in the tourism industry, Eissa said according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, national tourism saw a 108.6-point annual increase, which allows for viewing the future with a bit more optimism.

President of AmCham Egypt Tarek Tawfik and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby took part in the meeting, along with assistant ministers of tourism for technical and economic affairs, among others.
