Weather will improve on Thursday, EMA official

The director of the Department of Forecasting and Analysis at the Egyptian Meteorological Authority Mahmoud Shaheen said that the current severe cold wave that is hitting Egypt is the result of an air mass coming from southern Europe.

He explained that the temperatures in southern European countries will drop to the point of snow and when it reaches Egypt, there will be an improvement and a rise in the temperature.

During a telephone interview with “Hadith al-Qahira” (Cairo Talk) on the “al-Qahira wal Nas” (Cairo and the People) channel, Shaheen added that when the air mass is coming from these areas in southern Europe, it will have some improvement in the temperatures until it reaches the African continent.

Shaheen explained that at present we are at the end of the winter season and with the end of the season there will be rapid fluctuations, especially with the approach of the spring season.

“It is the time of sharp and rapid fluctuations until the winter season officially ends on March 20 and on Wednesday, this will be broken,” he added.

Shaheen said that the weather will begin to improve on Thursday and we will begin to gradually feel ease from the cooler weather and thus marks  the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
