The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned against taking to the sea on Wednesday and Thursday due to rough conditions.
As the week’s heatwave continues, the authority predicts maximum temperatures on Wednesday to range between 31C and 42C.
The weather will be very hot and humid in most parts, with perceived temperatures being higher due to humidity. Thursday is expected to be hotter than Wednesday.
EMA added that the Middle East is in the midst of a long wave of intense heat, which caused fires in Turkey and Greece and raised the high in Tunisia’s capital to 49C.
The authority added that this wave has also led to the outbreak of fires currently in more than 10 regions of Algeria, including the city of Tizi Ouzou. The fire there caused 14 deaths and may lead to the isolation of the province in the event that electricity towers continue to fall and communication networks are cut.
As for Egypt, the EMA said that this heatwave is settling down, with weather conditions returning to normal for this time of year.
