Egyptian rapper Wegz has refused to participate in a new Pepsi commercial out of solidarity with boycott campaigns, Cairo Live 24 news website reported on Monday.
The website quoted anonymous sources as saying that the rapper’s refusal came out of respect for the campaigns to boycott the company’s products in solidarity with Palestine, due to its continued support of Israel and its war.
Users across social media criticized the actors who still participated in the advertisement, which included singer Amr Diab, the player Mohamed Salah, artist Ahmed al-Sakka, actor Karim Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, singer Nawal al-Zoghbi, Sami al-Jaber, and Roberto Carlos.
