CAIRO, Feb 13 (MENA) – President of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Radio and Television Union (OIC-RTU) Amr Al-Laithi said the annual celebrations of World Radio Day offer an opportunity for communication, sharing ideas and experience, and promoting various cultures.
Laithi made the remarks while addressing a ceremony to mark World Radio Day, held this year under the theme: ‘Radio and Confidence’.
Despite the fierce competition from modern-age instant communication and social media platforms, radio is still the true voice of the people, winning their hearts, Laithi said.
World Radio Day is celebrated on February 13 each year.
This year’s celebration, themed ‘Radio and Confidence’, is focused on three sub-themes, namely trust in radio journalism; trust and accessibility and trust and viability of radio stations.(MENA)
