The April 6 Youth Movement said on Monday that it has prepared a draft law to "legitimize the status of political movements".
In a statement, the Movement said it had discussed the draft law with political and social forces and would send a copy to the cabinet and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces in the coming days.
The statement said Egyptian law does not provide a legal framework for existing political movements, adding that the new draft law will legitimize the status of these movements such that they can play a legitimate and official role in public life.
Mohamed Adel, media spokesperson for the April 6 Youth Movement, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that such movements should have recognizable identities and certain objectives to work for.
