Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass met with the head of the Heritage Authority of the Saudi Ministry of Culture, Jasir al-Herbish, to discuss the November start of the excavation project for the Ramses III site in Saudi Arabia.
Hawass said that research and papyrus records have confirmed that King Ramses III sent missions to bring copper from a neighboring country, which the mission found to be Saudi Arabia.
Excavations will be carried out on the historical trade route connecting Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
The mission hopes to reveal new information and artifacts of Egyptian kings who sent missions to Saudi Arabia more than 3,000 years ago. Hawass said that an important group of Egyptian archaeological scarabs have been discovered in Saudi Arabia.
The two officials agreed to conduct many other projects related to heritage preservation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to hold a series of documentary films on Saudi antiquities.
The meeting was attended by many archaeologists and officials of the Heritage Authority in Riyadh.
