Zamalek coach Mido reverses resignation

Zamalek Sports Club coach, Ahmed (Mido) Hossam, reversed a resignation he declared earlier on Saturday widely attributed to declining performance at the recent premier league game.

Mido explained he had received several calls from the club's board and fans, which prompted him to backtrack on his decision.

Zamalek received a 1-0 defeat from second-ranked Ismaili, further diminishing the team’s chances to qualify for a four-team mini-league that would determine the winner of this season’s title.

“I am undergoing extraordinary pressures; everybody demands me to score titles. The current squad does not have the capability to accomplish titles”, Mido told Al-Masry Al-Youm. “When I came to the team, I was seeking to build a new, strong team that can compete for the next season”.

Mido replaced former coach Helmy Tulan in January, becoming Egypt’s youngest-ever coach.
