The Zamalek football team will be penalized for not taking part in the Super Cup match, a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association Ehab al-Komy announced.
Zamalek will not be allowed to participate in the Super Cup for one time and a fine of LE500,000 will be imposed as well, he explained.
The Zamalek Club apologized for not playing against Al-Ahly in the Super Cup, due to the Grievance Committee’s decision to suspend the implementation of the penalty against Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba, the striker of the Al-Ahly team for 12 matches.
Journalist Hisham Amir announced earlier in May that Al-Ahly would withdraw from the Super Cup if Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba is suspended.
Kahraba was punished by the Disciplinary Committee of the Egyptian Football Association for committing several violations.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Football Association earlier suspended the Al-Ahly striker for 12 matches and fine him one million pounds, ahead of the Al-Ahly- Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup.
Al-Ahly had appealed the punishment.
According to Amir at the time Kahraba was set to participate in the Super Cup, and the appeal committee took no decision regarding the penalty before the Egyptian Super Cup match.
“If a decision is issued by the appeal committee upholding the suspension of Kahraba before the Egyptian Super Cup match, Al-Ahly Club will not play the match,” he said.
