Egyptian national team champion, Ziad al-Sissy, succeeded in winning the gold medal in the sabre competition, after defeating the Italian champion 15/9 at the Mediterranean Games held in Oran, Algeria.
Sissy qualified for the finals.
After winning this medal, the Egyptian delegation’s balance rose to 38 medals in the games, including 10 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze.

The 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games began on Saturday, June 25, in Oran, northwest of Algeria, and will continue until Tuesday, with the participation of more than 3,000 athletes from 26 countries.
Egypt’s participation in the tournament includes 177 players – 114 male and 63 female – in 19 sports: weightlifting, athletics, boxing, fencing, karate, shooting, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, judo, bow and arrow, wrestling, equestrian, sailing, handball, basketball, badminton, and gymnastics.
