Muslim Brotherhood sources said that the group’s General Guide Mohamed Badie would meet on Thursday with other senior members–including Seif el-Islam Hassan el-Banna, son of the movement’s founder–to discuss possible legal measures against the producers of a TV series that depicts the group’s history and the life of el-Banna.
"The producers never provided me with a copy of the script," said el-Banna. "But I later came to learn that it gives a false account of my father’s life and tarnishes the group’s reputation."
In a related development, prosecutors remanded 12 Muslim Brothers–including Osama Nasr Eddin, member of the group’s influential Guidance Bureau–into custody for 15 days pending investigation. The men were initially arrested on 18 February and charged with "belonging to a banned group" and "planning activities that threaten national security."
"The government has no evidence against them," said Islamist lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsoud.
