15 Egyptians arrested in Lebanon to be deported

The Egyptian Embassy in Beirut is currently finalizing procedures to deport 15 Egyptians for illegally entering Lebanon through the Syrian border, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Sunday.

The embassy delegated a representative to examine the case. The Egyptians, who were arrested in Beqaa, were looking for jobs in Lebanon because of the deteriorating situation in Syria, the ministry said.

Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Tawfiq called on all citizens to avoid the risks of illegal attempts to cross the Syrian-Lebanese border.

He urged them to look for jobs through legal routes instead, particularly as Egyptians have been killed on the border recently.
