16 Brotherhood members detained on charges of burning Fayoum police station, monastery

Sixteen Muslim Brotherhood members in Fayoum were detained for 15 days pending investigation on charges of burning and storming police stations as well as a monastery in Fayoum.

They were charged also with assaulting police officers and stealing arms from police stations.
 
Ahmed M., 35, from Hawarah Adlan village was meanwhile arrested, accused of storming and burning a monastery on 14 August.
 
Riots broke out across Egypt on 14 August after sit-ins launched by supporters of toppled President Mohamed Morsy in Rabaa al-Adaweya and Giza's al-Nahda Square were dispersed by force leading to the deaths of hundreds of protesters.
