Two persons died and another 12 were injured on Friday in two separate accidents on the agricultural and desert roads of Beni Suef.
In the first accident, two persons died and another was injured after a motorcycle turned over on the Fashn agricultural road of Beni Suef governorate. Ambulances transferred the victims to the hospital.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Beni Suef Abdel Nasser Hemeda said that the dead persons were Amr Abd Allah, 17, and another unidentified body, while the injured person was Ahmed Ragab Amar, 19, who suffered left arm fractures and sporadic wounds and bruises.
Meanwhile, 11 workers were injured due to the turnover of a microbus in front of Abu Salh tunnel of Beni Suef governorate. The victims worked for a cement factory in Democia village in Beni Suef.
Ambulances transferred the injured persons to Beni Suef hospital to receive treatment.
Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported that car accidents have declined by 23.6 percent, recording 8,480 accidents in 2018 compared to 11,089 accidents in 2017.
CAPMAS credited the decreasing rates of car accidents to improved roads across the country.
CAPMAS added that accidents in 2018 left 3,087 people dead, 11,803 injured and 13,441 vehicles damaged.
The human element was the main cause of accidents, accounting for 76.8 percent of total accidents in 2018, followed by vehicles accounting for 15.7 percent and the environmental element accounting for 2.7 percent.
