In coordination with security departments, the Ministry of Interior has launched a security campaign to arrest suspects and fugitives and bring order to the streets of Cairo, state news agency MENA said Sunday.
It said that within the past three days 202 firearms, 15,000 bullets of different types and 574 bladed weapons have been confiscated, and three workshops manufacturing firearms have been discovered.
Twenty-three escaped prisoners and 114 wanted suspects were arrested in the same period, MENA said, as well as 460 suspects in drug cases and 56 suspects and 19 gangs involved in armed robberies and other crimes.
