22% increase in Egyptian exports to Russia in 2014

Trade and Industry Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour said the trade balance between Egypt and Russia has boomed from $3 billion in 2013 to $5.5 billion in 2014, with Egyptian exports to the Russian market rising by 22.3 percent in 2014.
 
This came at a meeting with a delegation of 120 major Russian companies headed by Russian Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov.
 
The minister said Russian exports to Egypt of potatoes had increased by 144.8 percent, frozen vegetables by 900 percent, machinery and appliances by 681.3 percent, electrical appliances by 484.6 percent, tea and coffee by 100 percent, soap and detergents by 121.4 percent and fruits by 823.1 percent.
 
He also said a Russian committee will examine Egyptian agricultural products prior to their shipment to the Russian market, similar to the examining of Russian wheat exports to Egypt.
